LHC Cross Section

Dear all,
I am using the "SM" model provided by SARAH-4.9.3, and I want to calculate the estimated Higgs production cross section at the LHC (following the information given in https://arxiv.org/pdf/1602.05581v2.pdf). However, in the SPheno.spc.SM file, the required cross sections are not written (the full blocks "Block HiggsLHCX" are missing). What can I do to get them?

Best regards,
Sebastian

Hi,

I would need to check but I'm right now on vacation. However, I guess only for BSM models this information is printed. For the SM you should take the official values from the Higgs working group: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LH ... nd_decay_b

Cheers

Thank you!
I have also tested with a BSM model implemented by myself, with one Higgs boson (SM-like), and I also have no access to such cross sections. What could be the problem?

Best,
Sebastian

Did you turn on the decays? Does your model come with an extended Higgs sector?

The decays are activated; in fact, the SPheno.spc.X file contains the decay rates and branching ratios of all particles.
My model has an additional scalar inert doublet (as in the Inert Doublet Model) but also new singlet fermions. Those are the extensions of the SM.

Thank you,
Sebastian

Hmm...ok. Then I need to check after the holidays what's going on. In the meantime: since you get the decays, you also get most likely the blocks with the Higgs coupling ratios (HiggsBounds blocks)?! In that case, you can use these values and multiply them with the SM cross sections to get the cross section for your model. At the end, that's the same what SPheno does internally to get the numbers.

Cheers

Thank you so much!
I will follow that advice.

Happy Holidays,
