Forum HTTPS

Hello,

Linux x86
Firefox 45.0.1

I noticed the forum webpages don't load with https, i.e. this URL works

http://sarah.hepforge.org/forum.html

but this one returns the only the navigation bar on the LHS

https://sarah.hepforge.org/forum.html

This is a problem because e.g. google directs to the https SARAH hepforge page, and clicking through takes you to the https URL.

Best,

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

thank you for pointing out this issue. The problem is that I would need to pay extra for a server with SSL connection. Before I put (my own) money into that, I first wanted to see if the forum is really accepted. Thus, for the moment, the best what I can do is to add a message that people should switch to https.

Best,
florian

It's possible to get free SSL certificates with Let's Encrypt; or alternatively, most CDNs also offer encryption for free (in addition to reducing the load on your server). One of the most popular CDNs is Cloudflare (which I use myself for my website), or there's also Kloudsec which is a little easier to setup. All these options cost you nothing
